World sleep day is celebrated on March 19th every year.

On an average every human being requires 6-8 hours of sleep every day. The condition in which they sleep for more than 10 hours can be considered as sleeping disorder and is generally termed as hypersomnia. Clinomania is a disorder where the person has a lot of desire to stay in bed.

Hypersomina can be genetically transferred to younger generations in the family. Hypersomnia can be even caused by excessive consumption of Alcohol, Anti-anxiety pills.  Even thyroid and narcolepsy disorders can cause hypersomnia.


Regular oversleeping even if one does not have a sleeping disorder can show a negative impact on health.  Few problems include:

  • Obesity
  • Depression
  • Cardiac disorders
  • Increased risk of death

Therefore, sleeping for too long hours or sleeping for a very short amount of your time will cause several health connected problems and leave the person dazed the whole day. Most people occasionally experience sleeping problems due to stress, hectic schedules, and other outside influences. However, once these problems begin to occur on a daily basis and interfere with existence, they'll indicate a sleeping disorder.
